The students in the Spanish Partial Immersion Program will receive all their Math homework in Spanish. The math homework packet will go home every Friday. Your child will have the whole week to complete their package (please don’t let them wait until the last day to do it all) it needs to turned in the following Friday. The math homework comes from your child’s workbook. We only have one workbook per student. If your child looses their homework we recommend that you to call a friend and ask them to let you make a copy. We are sorry if this may cause you an inconvenience.
In the beginning the homework seems hard for the students to complete it all because they are still getting use to the new language. Please, motivate your child to do the best they can. Do not discourage them by telling them that it is too hard because it is in Spanish.
If you feel that you cannot assist them with parts of the homework, leave it blank and send a note to the and she will help your child. Over time you will see how children adjust and master their math homework in Spanish. You will be amazed with their progress! Please be patient and celebrate every little, big step.
We appreciate every effort to assist your child in completing their homework and we understand it will be difficult for some of you to read the instructions in Spanish. For that purpose, below you will find the assignments in English. Please understand that your child may or may not receive all or some of these assignments. If you notice that your child did not bring home one of these pages, don't worry, it has not been assigned to him/her.
The math curriculum we will use for the Spanish Immersion students is called enVisionMATH by Pearson. This program will target all the Math Common Core standards for the grade, so your child will learn the same math as all the other first graders in the country. The only difference is the language! All the assignments are part of the curriculum and your child will work on them after we discussed them in class. I kindly asked that you avoid showing this English assignments to your child because we want them to work as much as possible with their new language. This is for your reference only. Thank you for supporting our Spanish Immersion Program.
Each slide show represents a unit (topic) of study. When you see your child's assignment you will notice a series of numbers on the upper right hand corner. Just match the number and pictures with the slide show.
